Funds transfer to Games: Maya hits out at Delhi govt
Chief Minister Mayawati termed as “unjust” the Delhi government’s reported move to transfer Rs 750 crore of special component plan for SC/ST to Commonwealth Games and demanded that it be reverted. “Utilising money meant for uplift of SC/ST sections for Commonwealth Games is not justified and the fund should be utilised for the purpose it was allocated,” she said in a statement on Monday. A large number of people belonging to the SC/ST category reside in Delhi,a sizeable section of whom are still below the poverty line. “This decision reflects the anti-Dalit mentality of the Congress government in Delhi,” she alleged.

Any such move was in gross violation of norms laid down by the Planning Commission, she said. “As per rules, funds allocated for the welfare of the SC/ST sections should be utilised for this purpose only and transferring it to another head is illegal.”
