The state government has decided in principle to set up a 2,000 MW thermal power project in Bargarh region of the state,official sources said here on Friday.

“A proposal to this effect was discussed during a meeting of the Energy Task Force chaired by Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta on Thursday and it was decided to set up a 2,000 MW plant in

Bargarh area of Chitrakoot,” they said. It has been planned that the project would be set up either by the state utility UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam or by a private player.

Auditor drowned at school: autopsy
The postmortem report of Ajay Sharma (35),the auditor whose body was found from the the swimming pool of Ryan International School on Thursday,indicated he had drowned,the police said.

Two killed in bus-truck collision
Two persons were killed and nearly four dozen injured on Friday when a bus collided with a truck in Pillua area of the district,officials said.

The mishap occurred when the Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus,carrying about 52 passengers,collided head on with the truck.

The injured,mostly bus passengers,have been rushed to the district hospital.

Police with the help of locals have arrested three dacoits in Hapur city who were escaping after robbing Rs 10 lakh from a utensil showroom owner.

I-T conducts search at BJP MLA’s firms
Income Tax (I-T) sleuths conducted simultaneous search at various business establishments owned by Radheyshyam Gupta,BJP legislator from Fatehpur district,and his sons. The MLA’s firms in Fatehpur,Silvassa district of Dadar Nagar Haveli and Hindupur,near Bangalore,were being searched till the time of filing of the report. The MLA,who is in Bangalore,confirmed the news and said he and his sons run agencies for vehicles and flour mills in Fatehpur and own a steel furnish units in Silvassa and Hindupur.

4 held,Rs 15 lakh in fake notes seized
The police arrested four persons along with fake currency notes of face value Rs 15 lakh in Meerut on Friday. Two persons identified as Vinay Kumar and Monu Kumar belong to Hardwar,said ADG law and order Brij Lal.

In another incident in Allahabad,two persons with fake currency of face value Rs 12,000 have also been arrested.
