The campus will also celebrate the silver jubilee of NIFT,which was set up in 1986 by the Government of India. The event will be inaugurated by social activist and theatre personality Yugal Kishore.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will be in Rae Bareli on February 4 and 5,though,as per the schedule,Kishori Lal Sharma,her representative in the parliamentary constituency,will be the chief guest at the NIFT event. During her two-day visit,Sonia will inaugurate a sports stadium at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Amawa block,an auditorium in Lalganj and a guesthouse in Dalmau area of Rae Bareli. On the second day,she will meet people from her parliamentary constituency.

Varanasi varsity gets new V-C

Professor Binda Prasad Mishra,head of the department of Oriental Sanskrit,Lucknow University,has been made vice-chancellor of Sampurnanad Sanskrit University,Varanasi. He was given the charge by Governor B L Joshi after the last vice-chancellor of the university,professor Vempati Kutumb Shastri,resigned. His resignation was accepted by the governor today,said a press release by the Governor House.
