High Note

Her 6-ft frame could give any man a height complex, but it's heights that gave her the jitters till she threw all caution to the wind.

Her 6-ft frame could give any man a height complex, but it’s heights that gave her the jitters till she threw all caution to the wind.

“When you are negotiating the heights in a mountainous terrain, either you will make it safe and in one piece,or you’ll fall down and die—that is the kind of reasoning I gave myself to get rid of my fear of heights,” says Anushka Manchanda, who is anchoring Stuntmania Reloaded for MTV and was in Lucknow on Monday.

“Since the show tests the biking prowess of participants,we have shot in the Himalayan range, covering the Rohtang Pass,Kulu,Manali and Madhi.

There were heart-stopping moments aplenty as bikers displayed the stoppies, wheelies, burnouts and the works on the edge of cliffs that drop down to thousands of metres,” says Manchanda, giving a peek into the show in which stunts are overseen by Allan Amin, the maverick action director.

This year, she was heard in Dulha Mil Gaya and Badmash Company and songs she is excited about are from the forthcoming films Aisha and Lafangey Parindey.

“I have formed a band called Shkabang and we perform whenever there is time…our original song ‘I like crazy’ has been received pretty well,” says the singer who began as member of India’s first all-girl band Viva and does shows like Khatron ke Khiladi for thrill.

“I never say never to anything, for I don’t know what I’ll end up doing next,” she says.
