CM,chief secy to hold regular meetings to review progress in implementation

A day before Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s first meeting with senior government officials,including divisional commissioners,district magistrates and IGs,DIGs and SSPs,the SP government has given final shape to its development agenda.

The government has decided to formulate new policies for agriculture and industries,besides encouraging road construction and maintenance on the PPP model.

According to a press release issued by the Public Relation and Information Department,Akhilesh will hold a meeting to review the progress in the implementation of his government’s development agenda every three months. Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani will also hold monthly meetings to review the progress in the government’s development priorities.

In the first phase,the government has accommodated 100 points relating to various departments like infrastructure development,social welfare,power,agriculture,medical and health,education and industry in its development agenda. The government has fixed a revenue collection target of Rs 73,000 crore in the financial year 2012-13. Achieving this target is a top priority.

Sixteen flagships schemes of the Centre have been identified by the UP government for effective implementation across the state. These include National Agriculture Development scheme,MNREGA,Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana,Indira Awas Yojana,Total Sanitation Programme,National Rural Drinking Mission,NRHM,Integrated Child Development Mission,Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan,mid-day meal and Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Mission.

The government has announced that it will formulate a new agriculture policy for increasing agricultural production. The state will get maximum financial assistance from the Centre under Government of India’s Mega Food Park Scheme. Another priority is strengthening district cooperative banks and making available Kisan Credit Cards to farmers. Apart from developing varieties of sugarcane,the government will use information technology to solve problems sugarcane farmers face.

In the industry sector,the government will strengthen Udyog Bandhu and make efforts to link all district headquarters.

The government will build an international cricket stadium in Lucknow,besides international airports in Kushinagar and Agra. The Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Northern Peripheral Road in Ghaziabad will be constructed on the PPP model.

In the power sector,the the government will focus on getting completed under-construction power projects,besides taking up new projects. The government will improve power supply in rural areas and encourage PPP model in the sector.

Regarding health,the government’s top priority will be regular immunization programme. Emergency Transport Services will be available for emergency medical treatment. Under NRHM,BPL families will be covered.

The government has included implementation of the Bundelkhand package in the development agenda. Expansion of e-governance will also be a priority.
