A day after a policeman beat up a biker who inadvertently came in the way of the Governor’s motorcade,Raj Bhawan has written to the DGP Karamveer Singh expressing displeasure over the incident.

The incident occurred near SGPGI in Lucknow on Tuesday as Governor B L Joshi was on his way to Raj Bhawan from the SGPGI.

The letter said the Governor has taken the “inhumane behaviour” of the policeman very seriously and immediately conveyed his displeasure to the Circle Officer Mohanlalganj, who was present at the spot.

The Raj Bhawan has also asked Singh that no unnecessary police arrangements be made during the Governor’s movement so the common man does not face any unnecessary traffic restriction.

Confirming that he has received the letter,Singh said he would seek a full report from the Lucknow DIG/SSP. But no action was taken against the erring policeman till the filing of this report. He,however, has been identified as Vijayveer Singh, posted as the in-charge of the Eldeco police outpost.

Circle Officer of Mohanlalganj Shashikant Tewari said the incident took place around 8 pm on Tuesday.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Durga Prasad Gupta. “He had suddenly appeared before the Governor’s motorcade and was taken to the police outpost for interrogation. He was medically examined and later released,” Tewari told The Indian Express.
