Gadkari to address first rally in western UP after riots

Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari will address a rally in Mathura on October 30 — the first in western Uttar Pradesh after the Muzaffarnagar riots.

Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari will address a rally in Mathura on October 30 — the first in western Uttar Pradesh after the Muzaffarnagar riots.

The rally will be aimed at wooing farmers from the Jat community. The ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ will be attended by BJP’s Yuva Morcha president Anurag Thakur and general secretary Nitin Naveen.

The rally will be held in Maant,which has the maximum Jat population. “Gadkari is going to Mathura to address a rally despite his busy schedule in Delhi Assembly elections. The party wants to keep the Jat community votes intact after the Muzaffarnagar riots,” a BJP leader said.

Due to his connect with farmers,Gadkari can raise their in the riots better than any other leader,a BJP leader said.

BJP state in-charge Amit Shah had earlier this month held a meeting in Delhi with Jat leaders who sought tickets from western UP for the Lok Sabha elections. Sources said these leaders have asked the party not to enter into an alliance with RLD before elections.

Rally coordinator Rajesh Chaudhary said several Jat farmers have been displaced due to the the land acquisition for the Yamuna Expressway project. “Concerns of these farmers will be raised in the rally,” Chaudhary said.
