Four held for trader’s abduction

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force arrested four persons on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the recent abduction of Kanpur-based businessman Noor Ullah.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force arrested four persons on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the recent abduction of Kanpur-based businessman Noor Ullah.

The accused include: Shooting alias Sharafat Ali alias Sheelu,Geeta alias Sapna alias Puppi,Gulab Singh and Saju Gupta alias Sanjesh.

Noor,22,was abducted from Jajmau area in Kanpur. Even as he returned home fourteen days after the abduction,the Kanpur police arrested six persons in the connection.

Working on a tip-off that the four were in the city for a criminal purpose,the police arrested them from Gomti Nagar’s Vipul Khand area today. A Bolero,a motorcycle,a pistol,a country-made pistol and a camera were recovered from them.  

During interrogation,Sharafat and Geeta reportedly confessed to their involvement in the abduction of Noor. The police explained the modus operandi: Sharafat provided Noor’s cellphone number to Geeta,who lived in Kanpur. Geeta called Noor home and served him a drug-laced drink,following which he fell unconscious. Noor was thereafter handed over to the Ragia Gang.
