FIR against gay ‘married’ couple

A case has been filed against a gay couple for getting their alleged marriage registered on the basis of fake documents,police said today.

Two boys,Simran of Bareilly and Chunman of Ballia,allegedly got married on February 29 in Chavar village and got it registered at the sub-registrar’s office here on March 19 by faking their identities.

The sub-registrar,Subhash Chandra Mishra,lodged an FIR against the duo,alleging that they had submitted forged documents to fake their identities and get their alleged marriage registered. Police have registered a case and investigations are on to trace the couple,who are absconding.

Five youths
drown in Kanpur

LUCKNOW: Five youths drowned in Ganga in Bithoor area of Kanpur on Friday when they had gone for immersion of idol. Police recovered bodies of four by late evening. Station Officer (SO) of Bithooor,Pradip Kumar Singh,said a group of locals from a slum in Kalyanpur area had gone for immersion of idol of Goddess Durga in river Ganga. While taking bath after the immersion five youths — Harshu,Sambha,Sagar,Vickey and Pintu – all aged between 18 and 21 years slipped into the deep water and drowned. Some divers around the banks of the river jumped into the water to rescue them,but they failed to trace anyone. Police later summoned PAC divers to trace the youths. Divers will be pressed into service on Saturday to trace the fifth youth.

Throat slit by manjha,woman dies

ALLAHABAD: A woman officer of Railways died in a freak accident when the manjha (specialised thread used for flying kites) got entangled in her neck as she was on her way to office on her scooty. The incident occurred on a flyover under Cantonment police station area near the Allahabad High Court on Friday morning. According to Vivek Mishram,CPRO (Railway Electrification),Anita Sharma (50),a resident of Rajrooppur near Cantonment,was on her way to office near Civil Lines when the manjha slit her throat before she could apply the brake.
