Much of the crowd was prevented from reaching the venue because of the VVIP movement on way to the far-off venue,Smriti Upvan,Ashiana.

“I was in Allahabad recently for the Triveni Mahotsav and our performance was very well received there,” said the performer,who enjoys performing in different places. “Ramayan is a universally revered epic and its story is easy for any audience to relate with.

Whatever few people were watching here appeared to be enjoying the show,” said the danseuse who has been to Lucknow on several occasions,but “have never had the opportunity to enjoy the city’s famous specialities.”

Not one to shy from questions about her famous cricketer husband Sourav Ganguly,she said,“Cricket is over and now he is at home! He doesn’t understand my dance much and I understand cricket only as much as anyone married to a cricketer for 10 years would!” No qualms about being the lesser celebrity either.

“He is a cricketing legend. And I am trying to become a famous dancer.”
