A young boy and a teenaged girl, who had gone missing since Thursday morning, were found dead with gunshot injuries in Rampur Maniharan police station area of Saharanpur district on Friday noon.

A young boy and a teenaged girl, who had gone missing since Thursday morning, were found dead with gunshot injuries in Rampur Maniharan police station area of Saharanpur district on Friday noon. The girl’s marriage was scheduled for December 4. Both of them belonged to Dalit families and from same village.

Saharanpur SSP Deepak Ratan said the incident appeared to be that of the suicide pact. The boy shot himself after shooting the girl,he said. He denied possibility of honour killing.

He also said the locals informed the police about bodies of Rekha (18) and Sanjiv (20),both of Amarpur village, lying in a field outside the same village. The police reached the spot to find single gunshot wounds in the throats of both the deceased. A country-made firearm was lying in the right hand of the boy,the SSP said.

Rekha’s father Rajpal said his daughter’s marriage had been fixed for December 4,but she disappeared from the house Thursday morning. They later came to know that Ramesh’s son Sanjiv too had also gone missing from his house since early in the morning.

Rajpal also said that both the families were searching for the boy and the girl.

The SSP said primary investigation and information collected from the locals showed the Sanjiv and Rekha were involved in a love affair and their families were aware.

Since they both belonged to the same clan, their parents did not give consent for the marriage,Ratan added.
