In keeping with the ongoing trend of serials with social relevance,Zee TVs Afsar Bitiya,upholds the spirit of the girl child to get an education and lead a life of substance. Actors Indira Krishnan and Yash Sinha,who play pivotal parts in the series that goes on air from December 19,were in Lucknow on Tuesday,expressed hope that the show would go a long way in dispelling biases that impede the way of a girl in rural India in her quest for a life more literate.
Recently,Dilip Kumar said all actors must realise their social responsibility and do something worthwhile to bring a positive change, said Yash Sinha,whose character will support the protagonist in her struggle to take up a job as block development officer. When the role was narrated to me,I grabbed the opportunity, said Sinha,who hails from Bhagalpur,Bihar,where his mother is a college professor. Your chief minister Mayawati is a glowing example of women empowerment. I am sure,attempts such as this TV series will make the difference and village women will emerge stronger, said Indira Krishnan,who plays the supportive mother-in-law of the lead character.
