DESPITE ITS differences, India has functioned as one nation for thousands of years and this unity was apparent whenever it faced attacks from Pakistan or China, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said Monday.
Bhagwat was speaking in Ghazipur during the launch of a book on 1965 war hero Abdul Hamid, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
Bhagwat on Monday visited the native village of Hamid, Dhamupur, where he released a book on Hamid titled ‘Mere Papa Paramvir’ and another book titled ‘Bharat ka Musalman’.
During his address at the event, Bhagwat said, “Despite diversities, India is one nation and one society. We have different religions, castes, communities and states in our country and we speak different languages, but we all are one in the name of the nation and the country. During war with enemy countries, people from all castes, religions and states unite for the nation.”
Earlier, Bhagwat offered tributes at the statues of Hamid and Rasoolan Bibi, Hamid’s wife.
