‘Derogatory remarks on any religion unacceptable, but anarchy also won’t be tolerated’, says CM Yogi as protests against Yati Narsinghanad mount
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister issued directives in a meeting with the Chief Secretary, DGP, Additional Chief Secretary Home, and other senior officials on Monday.

Amid uproar over Yati Narsinghanand’s comments on Prophet Muhammad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that while derogatory remarks against deities, “great figures”, or saints of any caste, religion, or sect are “unacceptable”, “anarchy in the name of protest” will not be tolerated either.
Protests had erupted in western Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra over the remarks of Narsinghanand, a priest of Ghaziabad’s Dasna temple, while police booked him for alleged hate speech.
The CM issued directives while holding a meeting over the law and order situation with the Chief Secretary, DGP, Additional Chief Secretary Home, and other senior officials. “Every citizen should have a sense of gratitude towards great figures, but this cannot be imposed on anyone,” he said.
Adityanath said that anyone who tampers or makes derogatory remarks against “great men”, deities, or sects would be dealt with strictly under the law. At the same time, “vandalism” and “arson” in the “name of protest” would also face consequences, he added..
The Chief Minister directed that every district and police station must ensure that the Sharadiya Navratri and Vijayadashami festivals are celebrated in an atmosphere of “joy, peace, and harmony”. Issuing instructions for women’s safety, he said foot and PRV 112 patrolling should be increased in crowded areas.
“Identify those who seek to disrupt the environment and take strict action. Deal firmly with anyone acting against the law,” he said.
