The Delhi Crime Branch is set to visit Azamgarh to attach the property of two suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives Ariz Khan and Shahzad Ahmed wanted in the September 13,2008 serial blasts.
A Delhi court had issued the order of attachment of property on April 20,said a Crime Branch officer. On March 24,the Branch had also served a court notice regarding arrest warrants to the residences of the accused.
On Thursday,Ariz Khans aunt Anjum Sahar submitted an application to Azamgarh SP,stating that the property with Khans address,found in Delhi Police records,was not his. She added that Khan a nephew of her husband Dr Fakhre Alam had stayed at her house till 2003 while he was studying in an Azamgarh college.
Sahars cousin Zafar said: She has requested the SP not to attach her property. She has also stated that Ariz belongs to Nasirpur village in Azamgarhs Billariyaganj area. His parents stay there. Zafar added Dr Alam,who stays in Delhi,had informed them about the property attachment order. Though Azamgarh SP Ramit Sharma confirmed that he had received Sahars application,he is yet to receive any communication from the Delhi Police about the attachment of properties. Regarding Shahzad Ahmed,the station officer said he stays with his parents in Azamgarh.
Ariz Khan and Shahzad Ahmed are among the eight IM men wanted by the Delhi Police. All belong to Azamgarh and carry a reward of Rs 1 lakh each. Investigation shows they had escaped during the shootout with the police on September 19. It also revealed their involvement in planting timer devices at Gaffar Market,Barakhamba Road and Regal Cinema September 13.
