Decomposed body found in sewer,3 arrested

The state STF arrested a Lucknow University student and two of his associates on Thursday in connection to the murder of a youth who went missing on March 21.

The state STF arrested a Lucknow University (LU) student and two of his associates on Thursday in connection to the murder of a youth who went missing on March 21.

The accused — Dhairya Chaudhary,Vikas Gaur and Gauri Shanker — were arrested from Lucknow’s Vikas Nagar area.

The remains of the highly decomposed body of Abhishek Shukla (21) were also recovered from a sewer in Aliganj area.

According to the officers,an old dispute had led to the murder.

A native of Basti district,Shukla was a student of mass communication at a Noida institute.

He went missing from Charbagh railway station while on his way to Delhi on March 21.

Shahab Rashid Khan,Deputy Superintendent of Police,Special Task Force,said the last phone call made by Shukla helped them to trace the accused.

The trio was roommates at a rented house in the Vikas Nagar area.

Chaudhary,a law student in LU,has confessed to have strangled Shukla with the help of his roommates on March 21 and dumping the body in a sewer.

Also a resident of Basti district,Chaudhary has claimed that Shukla used to humiliate him publicly,said Khan.

While Vikas Gaur has a diploma in hotel management,Gauri Shanker was pursuing BBA from a private college.
