North Eastern Railway,Lucknow has congratulated its players Srishti Singh and Swati Singh for getting selected in the Indian womens weightlifting team and Agha Shakir Hussain for getting selected as a technical official (badminton) for the Commonwealth Games 2010.
Both Srishti and Swati were trainees of SAI centre of excellence forweightlifting at Sports College,Lucknow and they got employed with NER,Lucknow in the year 2008 in sports quota through a talent search programme.
Representing the Indian Railways,Srishti Singh won a silver in the senior womens weightlifting championships in 2009 and a gold in the senior womens weightlifting championships in 2010.
According to Indu Dubey,Divisional Sports Officer NER,Lucknow,twenty-three-year-old Swati Singh bagged a bronze in the senior womens weightlifting championships representing the Indian Railways team in the year 2010.
Another NER,Lucknow sportsperson Agha Shakir Hussain has been selected as technical official by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) for the Commonwealth Games. Agha has also been technical official during the Syed Modi Grand Prix Badminton Championships event organised in 2009 at Lucknow. Representing Uttar Pradesh,Agha Shakir won a silver medal in the Junior National Badminton Championships held at Kolkata. He got emplyed with NER,Lucknow in 1999.
