Four persons,including two minors,were killed in Hardoi while one died in Kanpur following explosion of firecrackers,on Monday.

In Hardoi,Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kumar Srivastava said a fire broke out in the house of one Shakir,causing an explosion,around 2 pm. His wife Wasida (40),daughter Rukhsana (12),mother Naghma (65) and niece Mushran (5) suffered injuries caused by fire and the splinters and died on the spot.

Srivastava said Shakir,resident of Auladganj locality,has a licence of manufacturing and selling firecrackers. The cause behind firecrackers catching fire is yet to be known.

In Kanpur,DIG Amitabh Yash said illegal storage of firecrackers at a house in Colonelganj area led to an explosion,causing the death of house owner Abbas alias Kakkus physically disabled sister Rano (39) and injuring another sister,Afsha (35).

A case has been registered against Kakku,who is yet to be arrested.
