Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court has directed reinstatement of a constable who was acquitted of the charges of killing his daughter. The constable,who was then posted in Pilibhit,was accused of the crime in 2006 and acquitted in 2007. However,his appeal for reinstatement was dismissed in 2008.
The court noted that,before dismissing the appeal for reinstatement,the appellate authority should have taken into account the fact that the accused had been acquitted.
Passing the order on a petition filed by constable Gabbar Singh on Thursday,a single judge bench of Justice Sunita Agarwal noted that instead of going through the acquittal order,the disciplinary authority concerned went by the report of the Circle Officer,which was part of the chargesheet filed in October 2006.
Rural Engg Dept scam: State,Centre told to respond to CBI probe demand
Lucknow: In a PIL seeking CBI investigation into an alleged scam in the Rural Engineering Department of UP,the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has directed the state and central governments to file-counter affidavits within four weeks.
The Bench of Justices Abdul Mateen and Ashwani Kumar Singh passed the order on a PIL filed by an organisation called We The People on Friday. The PIL said that the CAG report for 2007-2011 showed misappropriation to the tune of Rs 1,401 crore.
