Colleges under former Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU) now known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) will have a common syllabus from 2014-15 academic year.
The order of change in syllabus was sent to UPTU by principal secretary,higher education,Neeraj Kumar Gupta.
The changes will be brought into effect for students who will take admission into first year of respective courses next year; and then implemented as they progress through the years, a senior UPTU official said.
The former MTU office will be also set up as UPTUs extension office to execute necessary actions for colleges in the region. An assistant registrar will also be put in place to carry out day to day matters.
Reverting Mayawati governments 2010 decision,the SP government merged GBTU and MTU into UPTU October 31,which came into effect from November 1.
UPTU will now have six constituent colleges,which include Lucknow-based Institute of Engineering and Technology and Architecture College,as well as the under construction Dr Bheemrao Ambedkar Engineering College of Information Technology (BAECIT),Banda,Manyawar Kanshiram Engineering College of Information Technology (MKECIT),Ambedkar Nagar and MKECIT,Azamgarh.
Another Bijnor-based BAECIT,a constituent college under MTU,will also be assimilated in UPTU. The higher education department has also asked UPTU to take up online communication with the colleges,wherever possible.
