Inaugurating the Varanasi-Kathmandu bus service, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav assured people of more and more development for the state. He also took potshots at the BJP-led Central government. Akhilesh ridiculed the Wi-Fi service introduced by the Centre at the Varanasi ghats, besides questioning it on the issue of black money. However, the chief minister also said that he was ready to support the Centre in its initiatives and expected reciprocal behaviour from the Narendra Modi-led government. Addressing the gathering after introducing the Varanasi-Kathmandu ‘Maitri Bus Service’, besides Lohia Gramin Bus Service, Akhilesh said that when a Union minister called him up about the bus service, he was promptly told that the state government was ready to do it. He also pointed out that the state government was now planning to bring Metro in four major cities of the states. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are being prepared and he expected the Centre to provide proactive support on this front, the CM said. He added that the bus service would serve to improve the conditions of the youth and also promote tourism. Besides, people who have come from Nepal in search of livelihood would also benefit from this service. He also reminded the gathering that, during his father Mulayam Singh Yadav’s regime, the Sonauli border with Nepal had been opened on his father’s initiative. Akhilesh said that when the Samajwadi Party government was distributing laptops, the Opposition ridiculed it on the ground that they would not be useful. Yadav said that wi-fi service, after all, will be used on laptops and other gadgets only. “Are you going to run boats using wi-fi?” he questioned. Yadav also reminded the gathering that the Central government had promised to bring back black money. He asked the crowd as to whether they have seen any such amount.
