CBI has started probe into alleged murder of a Medical student who was found dead in mysterious circumstances at a ground close to the girls hostel at Teerthanker Mahaveer University in Moradabad.

CBI has started probe into alleged murder of a Medical student who was found dead in mysterious circumstances at a ground close to the girls hostel at Teerthanker Mahaveer University in Moradabad. The agency has registered a case of alleged murder on the request of the UP government.

It was alleged that Neeraj Bhadana,first year MBBS student was found dead on July 6,2013 on the ground opposite her hostel veranda, CBI said. The case was lodged on the basis of a complaint from the father of the deceased alleging that the body of Neeraj Bhadana had nail scratch marks on the face,neck,hand and upper body and marks of beating on the legs and waist, she said. The police initially worked on the theory of suicide but the post-mortem revealed that death was due to strangulation which led to case of murder.

IIT-K opens office

Kanpur: With an aim to hunt for qualified and capable faculty abroad,IIT-Kanpur has set up an office in New York with alumnus Sanjeev Khosla designated as the overseas brand ambassador of the institute. The office will also try to amass funds through the alumni based there,IIT-Kanpur Director Indranil Manna said. The office will help connecting foreign faculty with IIT-K. More than a dozen teachers teaching in foreign institutions have expressed an interest in associating with IIT-K,he said.

Lucknow: A man was critically injured after he was shot at by a relative near a mall in Krishna Nagar area Monday. The victim identified as Man Singh,a driver in the state commercial tax department,suffered five bullet injuries on his body and is said to be serious. He has been sent to the the trauma centre of King George Medical University. Sarojini Nagar circle officer Harendra Kumar said Man Singh was shot by Puttan Singh who is absconding.

Minor Dalit girl shot in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar: A 15-year-old Dalit girl was shot allegedly by some unidentified men at Harjmajpur village in Shamli,police said. The girl had Sunday evening gone to a hand pump near her house in Harjmajpur village to fetch water when some unidentified men shot her,Additional SP Atul Saxena said.
