A 20-year-old boxer,Satendra Bhatt alias Satyam allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Unnao on Tuesday morning. No suicide note has been found. Satendra was alone in the house.
The police said the motive for taking the extreme step could not be ascertained.
There is no foul play in the death. The post-mortem report stated death caused due to hanging,said Station officer,Gangaghat police station,Anoop Singh,adding that the family of the deceased stays in Sarvodya Nagar locality on rent.
Bhatts mother Babita Bhatt said Satendra was staying in Goa for the last six years and undergoing boxing training there. He had returned home last month.
According to police,the incident came to light when Babita and Satendras elder brother Tependra returned home at around 9.00 am.
They found the house locked from inside. Despite several knocks when no one answered,they broke open the door and found him hanging.
Satendras friend Vikas Singh informed that he had participated in the state level championships at Goa representing Ponda district.
Satendra was a trainee at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Goa,he added.
