BSP MLC gets clean chit in Kosi Kalan case

The police investigation found that the allegations against Lekhraj were baseless.

Police have given a clean chit to Chaudhary Lekhraj Singh,Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) member in the UP Legislative Council,in a case of alleged murder of two brothers during the communal violence in Kosi Kalan in June 2012.

Revenue Minister Ambika Chaudhary today presented the police investigation report in the Legislative Council in response to an adjournment notice moved by BSP members on June 5,2012,regarding alleged failure of the administration to control the clash in Kosi Kalan in Mathura district. BSP membe rs had then protested against lodging the murder case against Lekhraj,arguing that Lekhraj was present in the House at the time of the incident.

According to the report the government received from the DIG,Aligarh range,the case was lodged on June 2 at Kosi Kalan police station against Govind Paunia and 54 others on a complaint by one Salim. As per the statements of the complainant and other witnesses,evidences collected during investigation and inspection of the spot,the police found that the allegations against Lekhraj were baseless. Later,in September 2012,the investigation was transferred from Mathura to Aligarh,where Circle Officer Atrauli investigated the case. During the probe,an accused Girdhari Acharwala was arrested and is lodged in jail.

The report says the Aligarh police had sought a report from Kosi Kalan police to confirm the name and address of other accused to execute attachment of their property. The report said that the complainant Salim was not giving complete information regarding the role of 48 other accused.
