Three industries shut in Varanasi
The UPPCB ordered the closure of three industries in Varanasi on Tuesday after they were found illegally dumping untreated colour-based effluents in Ganga. The three industries are Rafique Dying Udyog,Pappu Saree Udyog and Somaru Dying Udyog in the Chhipitola area. We have received complaints that these industries were polluting Harishchandra Ghat in Varanasi. After inspecting these,we have ordered their closure, said Rajeev Upadhyay,Chief Environment Officer of UPPCB.
38-year-old commits suicide
The body of a 38-year-old man,who was missing since last Thursday,was found hanging at an under-construction house in Lucknows Aliganj area on Tuesday. Girja Verma,an unemployed,had allegedly committed suicide,said police. Girjas family filed no report after he went missing, said a police officer. No suicide note has been found.
Court summons Sanjay for remarks against Maya
BARABANKI: A local court in Barabanki has issued summons to actor Sanjay Dutt,directing him to appear before it on March 22 in a case relating to alleged objectionable remarks made by him against Chief Minister Mayawati. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Arvind Mishra issued the summons for the second time against Dutt on Monday,after he failed to appear despite earlier instructions,sources in the prosecution said.
The actor had reportedly made the objectionable remarks about Mayawati at a rally held during the Lok Sabha election campaign in Tikaitnagar in April 2009. At the time of campaigning,Dutt was part of the Samajwadi Party.
