BJP ‘godman’ denies assault charges,claims woman wanted ticket

Apart from sexual assault,the woman has accused the BJP leader of forcing her to undergo abortions.

Chinmayanand said he had refused to help her and objected to her using his name,following which she left the ashram in the September and got married to “some B P Gautam in Budaun”.

Swami said the woman,who belongs to Delhi,used to work at a call centre and had first come to him along with her mother about 11 years ago. An MP at the time,he had hired her as his official personal assistant. After 2003,she had shifted to his Shahjahanpur ashram and done graduation in law,as well as a B.Ed,M. Ed and post-graduation in English literature.

The BJP leader also accused the woman of giving his name as her father in the voter I-card instead of her late father. He asked why she hadn’t raised the charges against him since 2005,when she claims the sexual harassment began.

Swami accused the woman of acting at the behest of the BJP,especially Chief Minister Mayawati’s office.

Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police Ramit Sharma said the police are in the process of collecting evidence and would arrest the Swami soon.

He said the woman in her statement has accused Swami of beating her up whenever she objected to her sexual harassment that continued since 2005.

The police are collecting the details of hospitals in Bareilly and Lucknow where the woman alleges to have undergone abortions in 2006 and 2009.

The woman reportedly does not remember hospital names as she was semi-conscious on both occasions. Butshe knows the BJP leader’s associates who had taken her there and doctor in Shahjahanpur who referred her to hospitals for abortions.
