Hosts Uttar Pradesh will face Kerala in its opening match in the 38th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championships which begin at RDSO Stadium,Manak Nagar,Lucknow from Friday. The championships are being organised by the UP Basketball Association. While 24 teams will be seen in action in the boys section,23 teams will be taking part in the girls section. The matches will start from Friday morning while the championships will be formally inaugurated by V Ramachandran,Director General,RDSO at 5.30 pm same day.
Come and Play
The Come and Play scheme will be launched from October 1 at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Netaji Subhash sub-centre,Lucknow. In first phase coaching in athletics and judo in the age group of 8-17 years will be started. Come and Play scheme was initiated at various SAI Stadia Complexes in Delhi,in phase manner. Regional director SAI,Rachana Govil informs that the main aim of the scheme was to impart coaching primarily to beginners to encourage participation in sports and for optimum utilisation of the facilities available. A fee of Rs 45 per month shall be charged,however complimentary membership for BPL card holders and relaxation of 1/3rd fee shall be given to girlchild and government school children. The admissions shall be given on first come first serve basis.
