B Tech student dies in accident

A 19-year-old student of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) was killed,while his batch-mate was seriously injured in an accident in the early hours of Monday in Shivkuti.

A 19-year-old student of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) was killed,while his batch-mate was seriously injured in an accident in the early hours of Monday in Shivkuti.

According to police,Jogesh Singh,a resident of Gorakhpur,and Avinash Katara,a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan,were going on a motorcycle when their bike collided with the railing of the Curzon Bridge on the river Ganga around 1.30 am. While Avinash died on the spot,Jogesh has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Parvati Hospital. The doctors have kept Jogesh under 48-hour observation. They,however,said that his condition was stable.

The police are yet to get the exact details of the accident. Preliminary investigations revealed that Jogesh and Avinash,both second-year students of B Tech (Electrical),used to live in the institute’s hostel. The nearly 120-year-old Curzon Bridge was re-opened for light traffic in 2006,after 16 years.
