Ayodhya verdict: Health dept put on alert

The Health Department has been mobilised to handle any emergency that may arise after the High Court verdict on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title suit.

The Health Department has been mobilised to handle any emergency that may arise after the High Court verdict on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title suit.

A nodal officer has been put in charge in each district to handle any emergency.

Over 950 ambulances — government and private — have been listed. Besides,vehicles used for the Janani Suraksha Yojana will also be pressed into service. Each district headquarters will have at least two and each block at least one ambulance for round-the-clock service. Orders have been passed to arrange for generators on rent for postmortem houses. “The preparations will stand for any disaster management in future,” said Dr Shobhnath,Director,Medical Care,head of the committee formed to review the preparations. “We have prepared lists of hospitals and nursing homes,doctors and ambulance drivers with their contact details.”

The lists have been made on district and state levels and have been sent to the Cabinet Secretary,Chief Secretary,and secretaries,Home,Medical and Medical Education,he said. “We are ready for any disaster management,” said Dr SP Ram,Director General,Health and Family Welfare.
