Ashok shines in Mini Mount victory

A five-wicket haul by Ashok Shukla (5 for 16) and an unbeaten 51 run knock by Ravi Kant Shukla helped Mini Mount in defeating Prime Sports by four wickets in the semi-final match of the Mini Mount Night Cricket Tournament at Mohanlalganj on Thursday.

Joint winners
Awadh Tiger’s Academy and LDACC were declared joint winners of the 2nd Eram Cup Cricket Tournament as the final between the two could be completed due to rains.

Kirti Mishra of Northern Railway gave away the prizes to the winners. While Rahul Rawat of LDACC was adjudged ‘Best Batsman’,Abhas Vohra of Panther Academy and Samrat Singh of Tiger Cricket Academy were declared ‘Best Bowler’ and ‘Best Allrounder’,respectively.

Sahara States win
Sahara States team defeated Unique Eleven by 4-1 in their day’s match of the Vodafone District Football League-2010 being held at Dilkusha grounds,Lucknow. The goal-getters on behalf of the victors were Amrit Raee (5th minute),Danish (25th minute),Hari (47th minute) and Amrit (57th minute). The consolation goal for Unique Eleven was netted by Ambar in the 22nd minute of the play. The second league match played between 1/11 GR and Golden Boys proved to be a one-sided battle in which the former emerged winners by a thumping 12-0 margin.

Football trials
The district level under-16 girls football trials were held at Chowk Stadium,Lucknow on Thursday.

Secretary District Football Association Kanhaiyya Lal informs that around 17 girls turned up for the trials. The regional trials will take place at 5.00 pm on Friday. Those selected will be representing the Lucknow region in the Sub-Junior Girls’ State Football Championship to be organised at Shahjahanpur from July 18 to 25.

Reward for Arjun
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has announced Rs 2 lakh as encouragement for young mountaineer Anurag Bajpai. Arjun,a resident of Noida,had conquered Mount Everest successfully on May 22 this year.

SER triumph in Railway T-T
South Eastern Railway defeated Eastern Railway in the men’s team championship section final of 58th All India Railway Table Tennis Championship 2010 being organised at RDSO,Lucknow. Southern Railway stood third while Central Railway secured the fourth place. In the women’s team championship section too,South Eastern Railway won the winner’s trophy with a total of 9 points in the league table.
