Ashish Kumar accorded a warm reception

Talking to The Indian Express,Ashish said,“I am overwhelmed by the welcome given by the people of Allahabad. I am here for a week after which I will be attending the camp. I really want to win a medal at the World Championships to be held at October in order to secure a berth in the Olympics.”

Ashish created history when he bagged the first medal for India in gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games. He won a bronze and a silver at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze at the Asian Games last year. Ashish was not able to make it to the award ceremony organised on August 29— the National Sports Day,as he was attending a camp at London. The awards were given away by President Pratibha Patil.
