Amar praises Sonia,urges politicians to appreciate rivals

After praising Atal Bihari Vajpayee recently,SP general secretary Amar Singh has now spoken well about Congress president Sonia Gandhi and said that he was waiting for his turn of being “ticked off” by his party.

Singh lamented in his latest blog on his personal website thakuramarsingh.com that “today,small and petty minds have occupied leadership at all levels in all parties and tolerance of talent of rivals is no longer appreciated”.

Singh hailed Gandhi’s “benevolent” attitude towards the late Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar during his last critical years of ailment.

He said: “I praised Atalji in my blog and I am waiting for my turn of being ticked off by my party.” The SP leader said he was “grateful” to his friend Arun Jaitley who came all the way to Singapore along with his wife,and his another friend Farooq Abdullah during his kidney transplant surgery.

“Politics is a vocation of public service and parties with different ideologies are only streams which are meant to converge for doing good to people at large. So,why should we be petty and prejudiced for nothing,” he said. He said the political class should resolve in the New Year to be truthful in its appreciation of its rivals’ good work and not treat them with contempt of an enemy. Taking a dig at SP’s bete noire and BSP chief Mayawati,he said probably she might not agree with him.
