A 47-year-old government school teacher died after he was stabbed and then set on fire allegedly by some miscreants at Meja tehsil,45 km from Allahabad on Thursday. Gangadhar Tiwari,a resident of Hulka village, was admitted with 90 per cent burn injuries at the state-owned Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital where he succumbed.
My father received a call from a person in the morning. The caller asked him to come to the house of one Ram Prabhat Pandey,a resident of same village. When he reached there,Pandey told him that he did not call him. While he was returning, four persons kidnapped him and took him to a canal on a jeep where he was stabbed and then set on fire, said Sudhir Kumar Tiwari, son of the victim.
According to the family, the attack could be the result of a land dispute with one Mani Ram Mishra.
On several occasions,Mishra and his sons tried to grab our land and despite complaining to the police no actions has been taken against them,Sudhir said. He has named Mishra and his two sons in a fresh complaint that he has lodged with the police.
Circle Officer R B Chaurasia said three days ago,Mishra and Tiwari had a quarrel and the villagers had to intervene. We are probing the matter and an FIR will be lodged against Mishra, said the CO. Mishra is reportedly absconding.
