All India Railway T-T begins

The 58th All India Railway Table Tennis Championship-2010 was inaugurated by KBL Mittal,DG/RDSO on Tuesday at the RDSO Badminton Hall,Lucknow.

The 58th All  India  Railway Table  Tennis  Championship-2010 was inaugurated by KBL Mittal,DG/RDSO on Tuesday at the RDSO Badminton Hall,Lucknow. In the colourful opening ceremony, Amitabh Sinha,president,RDSO/ Sports Association,welcomed  all the players from different Railways participating in the championship.

The Results: (Day-1): Men’s Team Championship section: Northern Railway beat Integral Coach Factory 3-2; South Western Railway bt Northeast Frontier Railway 3-2; Eastern Railway bt North Central Railway 3-0; Southern Railway bt East Cost Railway 3-0; Western Railway bt North Western Railway; South East Central Railway bt South Central Railway 3-2; Southern Railway bt North Central Railway 3-0;

Women’s Team Championship section: Western Railway beat Northeast Frontier Railway 3-0; South Eastern Railway bt Metro 3-1.

Monu shines for XI Star
Forward Monu Singh blasted two goals– in the 22nd and 42nd minute,as his team XI Star defeated Indira Sporting by 3-0 in their league match of the Vodafone District Football League 2010 at Dilkusha ground,Lucknow on Tuesday. Arun scored apiece in the 10th minute of the play.

Wednesday’s Fixtures: LMS vs Neelmatha (at 3.30 pm); XI Star vs GBC team (at 5.00 pm).

UP kids in ‘Dhoni’s team’
Three school kids from Uttar Pradesh— Sudeeksha Sharma (Lucknow),Vaishnavi Mishra (Kanpur) and Ankit Yadav (Varanasi),have been selected to be part of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dabur Chyawanprash’s Immune India Team. The three UP kids will join 22 others from the rest of India in an initiative to spread awareness about building stronger immunity to disease in the country and Dhoni will accompany them. The kids also spent a day with Dhoni about two weeks ago.
