Akhilesh removes his chosen man

Samajwadi Party national secretary Rajeev Rai,who was the partys face on Hindi TV channels until Saturday evening,was removed for anti-party activity on Sunday and asked to explain his conduct.

He had been hand-picked for the job by Akhilesh Yadav,who was elected leader of the SP legislature party on Saturday.

Surprisingly,Rai said he had no idea what he had done to deserve this,nor did party spokesman Rajendra Choudhary. We have no information. State president Akhilesh Yadav has removed him from the post of national secretary. An explanation has also been sought from him. It may be that he has gone against the party line but I have no idea, said Choudhary.

In a statement,the party said Choudhary is the only spokesperson of the party authorised to issue statements.

Ironically,while Akhilesh was being crowned at party office at 11:30 am on Saturday,Rajeev Rai was on Sahara Samay channel defending his candidature. Later,in the evening,he was on AajTak at 10:30 pm,speaking on the partys priorities.

During the electioneering,Rajeev was busy hopping from one studio to another,speaking on behalf of the party. The action against him took partymen by surprise.

First,it was announced that Rai had been expelled from the party.
