Akhilesh issues flood alert in UP

Alarmed by the increasing water level of the rivers Sharada and Ghaghara in various parts of the state,Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has instructed the concerned district administrations to be on alert mode.

Alarmed by the increasing water level of the rivers Sharada and Ghaghara in various parts of the state,Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has instructed the concerned district administrations to be on alert mode.

The CM reviewed the flood situation of the state after his return from a foreign tour on Sunday.

He instructed the commissioners,district magistrates and superintendent of police of all flood-hit districts – Barabanki,Faizabad,Ambedkar Nagar,Azamgarh,Mau,Ballia,Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur – to monitor flood relief operations and evacuate people to safer places.

The CM asked the officials to provide food and water facilities in the relief camps and arrange for sufficient number of boats to carry out the evacuation process. He also instructed the officials to arrange for medical facilities in the flood-hit areas to control spread of communicable disease.
