The MVDA, which is working on a plan to widen the roads, had banned all type of construction in the locality. Taking immediate action, MVDA vice-chairman C P Singh suspended JE Satish Sharma and showcaused the area’s AE for negligence.

“We had already told the owner of the house, Lakshman Prasad, not to go ahead with any construction. The JE turned a blind eye towards the construction, which caused two lives today,” C P Singh said.

The police, meanwhile, has registered a case against the building owner under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

Meanwhile, two more deaths were reported in different cases of house collapse in Mathura and Agra districts Monday.
