ADG (Law & Order) removed

Arun Kumar had landed in a controversy after he proceeded on a three-day leave on September 19. Sources said he had requested for central deputation.

Amid allegations of government interference in police functioning,senior police official Arun Kumar,who oversaw the situation in Muzaffarnagar after the communal riots,was Thursday removed from the post of ADG Law & Order.

He has been attached with DGP Headquarters. ADG Railways Mukul Goel replaces him.

Arun Kumar had landed in a controversy after he proceeded on a three-day leave on September 19. Sources said he had requested for central deputation. The BJP had blamed the SP government for exerting undue pressure on him Kumar for initiating action on BJP and BSP leaders for the riots.

Goel,a 1987-batch IPS,was one among 25 IPS officers suspended by then chief minister Mayawati in September 2007 after FIRs were lodged against them for alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC),police and radio wireless personnel in 2005 and 2006 during the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime.
