Seven persons were killed and eight were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a stationary tractor trolley in Manjhanpur area of Kaushambi district today morning.
According to the police,the incident occurred when a Toyota Qualis coming from Karari towards Mansur Nagar in Manjhanpur collided with the tractor trolley near Kurrai village. Seven persons died on the spot,while eight others were taken to the district hospital at Manjhanpur. The victims were members of a joint family and had gone to attend a festival in Chhimirchha village of Karari area. They were returning home when the incident occurred, said Station Officer (Manjhanpur) Abdul Haleem.
The deceased have been identified as Firoz (28),Afroz (20),Kohinoor (24),Mohammad Tasleem (20),Kaiser (18),Ghulam Hasnain (24) and Waseem (22).
Haleem said that the driver,Kohinoor,may have been feeling sleepy because the entire party had remained awake till late for the festival. The tractor trolley too did not have any parking indicator. Kohinoor could not realise that the tractor trolley was parked virtually on the road, said Haleem.
Kohinoor also died in the accident. The deceased were in the age group of 18 to 28.
