5-year-old suffocates to death in car

A five year old boy suffocated to death in a car while his parents were at the wedding of a relative in Loni,Ghaziabad,on Thursday afternoon. According to police, the incident occurred when Akhlaq Ahmed came down to Ghaziabad with his wife,Jameela, for the wedding of his niece,Nagma.

Police said around 2 pm on Thursday, the boy, identified as Adnan, went to play near the parking area of Nagma’s house in Indirapuri. He reportedly became tired in the summer heat and took refuge in a Honda City belonging to a relative.

According to police,Adnan had managed to enter the car on several occasions earlier in the day. However, this time, the central locking system clamped down and the boy was trapped inside the car. He tried calling out for help, but as everybody was inside the house,no help came along. After a while,Adnan collapsed due to suffocation.

About an hour later, the boy’s parents noticed that Adnan was not playing with the other children in the parking lot. Soon after, they launched a hunt and found Adnan lying motionless in the car. Though he was rushed to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

“Some people are saying that we left the boy in the car and went to celebrate, discovering this plight only when it was time to leave. But these allegations are baseless — no parent can act so irresponsibly. There was a marriage taking place, and all the children were playing outside. We never imagined that such a misfortune could fall on us,” said Ammu Ahm-ed,the boy’s uncle.

The boy’s father,a businessman, works with Ammu in Vasant Vihar.
