18-yr-old held for raping 11-yr-old

The girl has been admitted to a hospital with injuries on her private parts.

Police Saturday arrested an 18-year-old youth for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl under Kaanth police station area in Shahjahanpur district. The incident took place Friday. The girl has been admitted to a hospital with injuries on her private parts. Medical examination of the victim has been conducted and its report is awaited.

Station House Officer, Kaanth police station, Brij Raj Singh said a case against the accused — Mehtab — has been lodged on rape charges and under POCSO Act by victim’s father. Both, victim and the accused, belong to same caste. Singh said the girl’s father informed the police Friday night that his daughter had gone to the fields for grazing cattle in the afternoon where Mehtab forcibly took her to a secluded place and raped her issuing threats.
