Ishrat Jahan encounter: Was tortured by CBI team,DySP Amin tells court

Amin made the allegation soon after he was brought before the court of judge HS Khutwad,where CBI filed a plea today seeking his custody.

Amin was arrested on Thursday from the civil hospital in Ahmedabad where he had gone complaining of chest pain. He was taken to CBI office in Gandhinagar for questioning. The police officer is also an accused in the Sohrabuddin encounter case in which he was arrested six years ago.

“CBI officials twisted my arms and punched two or three times in my stomach while arresting me at the civil hospital. They took me to their Gandhinagar office and questioned me till 10:30 pm. At the office,they blindfolded me. I heard the voice of Satish Verma (IPS officer assisting CBI in investigation) speaking in Hindi. Though I could not see,I recognised his voice,” Amin told the court.

He also alleged that Verma told interrogators to “to make Amin medically fit” and forcibly stretched his legs that caused pain in his perineal region. Amin told the court he urinated while sitting on the chair and ejaculated as well.

The officer also alleged that Verma and investigating officer G Kalaimani hurled abuses at him.

In the courtroom,Amin was accompanied by family members.

CBI counsel said Amin was taken to Gandhinagar civil hospital for check-up after his interrogation.

According to CBI,Amin was “specifically involved in the abduction of the Javed alias Pranesh Pillai and Ishrat Jahan before the purported encounter was perpetrated to kill the four persons in a concerted fashion”.

Ishrat,Javed and two others were killed in an encounter on June 15,2004 near Ahmedabad by a police team.

So far,CBI has arrested six Gujarat Police officers in this case,including suspended IPS officer G L Singhal,DySP Tarun Barot and Amin.
