Woman ‘tortured’ by husband hacks him to death

A woman,who was allegedly a victim of regular domestic violence,hacked her husband with a chopper at her home in Howrah on Wednesday. Police said the man,who worked in a hosiery unit,died on the spot and the woman was arrested. Ananda Koley (45) tortured his wife Shibani almost daily,police said quoting neighbours at Sirajbati village at Amta. On Wednesday,the man allegedly tried to strangle his wife,while threatening her with a chopper,which he held in his left hand. The woman desperate to save herself snatched the chopper from his hand and hit him with it,injuring him fatally. She then hacked him to death,said police. The couple has a eight-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.
