Two TMC workers were shot dead late yesterday night in Burdwan. The incident happened when the TMC workers,who had left the place fearing attack by CPM armed cadres,were returned to their village Laudoha in Durgapur police station area yesterday night.
Madan Mitro,the TMC leader in-charge of Burdwan,said,Our party workers – Sheikh Aminul Islam alias Khokon and Sheikh Kamal – were killed by the CPM-backed goons in Amdohi village near Laudoha.
Mitro further said,We have repeatedly informed the police and the administration about the threat and submitted a written complaint about the CPM cadres having an armed camp in the area. However,the police did not pay any heed and no security was provided.
According to sources,CPM cadres are running more than 10 camps in the district. The villagers of Mangolkot,Ketugram and Raina are yet to return to their houses fearing attacks by the CPM cadres.
Humayun Kabir,SP,Burdwan said,As per the information we have received,two criminals were killed. Their political identity could not be ascertained. As of now,we have arrested four persons in the case and raids are being conducted in several places in search of the other criminals.
