Left Front Chairman Biman Bose on Thursday accused the state government attacking farmers in several districts.
We had distributed pattas to farmers during the 90s as a part of our land reforms programme. In places like Haroa in North 24 Parganas and Bankura, local Trinamool gangs with the help of the district officials are forcefully taking away land from those who had received it during our tenure. We strongly condemn such incidents and demand an immediate end to such anti peasant policies, alleged Bose.
Bose warned that failure to take proper steps to stop such acts will force them to launch a movement against the state government.
He welcomed the Cabinets move to change the name of West Bengal, but said the process was initiated way back during the sixth Left Front government under Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
Bose also announced that a strong movement will launched against the relentless scams of the UPA. He said the state Left Front is contemplating taking forward their week-long agitation against the hike in prices of petroleum products till the last week of July.
