TMC will bring no-confidence motion when it is sure of bringing down UPA

“We will bring the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha only when we will be sure that such a motion will put the government in trouble. To make it sure,we have to move cautiously. Right now,we are not disclosing the names of the parties whom we will be consulting,” said Trinamool MP Saugata Roy.

Party insiders say the party would speak to both UPA II allies as well as the opposition parties except the Left Front to get them by their side before bringing the motion in Parliament.

However,the party has not yet decided when it would approach President Pranab Mukherjee with an appeal to oust the “minority government” at the Centre.

“It is too early to comment on when and how we will bring the no-confidence motion because a lot of development will take place in the days ahead,” said Roy.

Trinamool leaders say since more than one anda half months is left before the next session of Parliament,the party would move cautiously to “see that the no-confidence motion gets support of all the anti-UPA parties and parties supporting the government from both inside and outside”.

“We have just 19 members in Lok Sabha. It is clear that we do not have the numbers to topple the government. We need many more parties. If we bring a no-confidence motion without taking other non-Congress,non-BJP parties into confidence,the government will survive and people will ridicule our move. We do not want to repeat the mistake,which the Left Front had committed during the tenure of UPA I,” a Trinamool MP said.

In the 543-member Lok Sabha,support of one-tenth of the total strength of the House is required to bring a no-confidence motion.

“Our party chief has urged both UPA allies and those supporting the government from outside to support the no-confidence motion. From her comments,it is clear that the party will speak to those who oppose the anti-people decisions of the UPA II government,” said another Trinamool MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy.

Centre trying to please other nations: Hakim on Jairam

Kolkata: Trinamool leader and state Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim on Friday said that FDI in retail was allowed only to protect the interest of US President Barack Obama and Centre is insisting on providing Teesta water to Bangladesh to help a particular party win elections there. His remarks came after Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh spoke about signing the Teesta water-sharing treaty with Bangladesh. Since Obama is facing election in his country,the Centre has allowed FDI to protect his interest,Hakim said. Similarly,the Centre is insisting on providing Teesta water to Bangladesh to help a particular party in that country to win elections. Trinamool is interested in protecting the interest of the people of the country,he added.
