Swine flu returns: four cases in Kolkata

Four swine flu cases have been reported in the city since Thursday and a child is among the victims.

State Health Minister Suryakanta Mishra said that all those affected by swine flu have been admitted to state-run Infectious Diseases Hospital in Kolkata after their swabs tested positive for the virus.

“The victims have been quarantined and kept under observation,” the minister said.

Asked about the steps taken by the authorities to prevent the spead of swine flu,Mishra said,“We are taking measures as per the international protocol.”

“All hospitals in the city and districts have been asked to adopt preventive measures and open quarantine ward for admission of swine flu patients,” said officials.

Kolkata Mayor Shovan Chatterjee said a nine-year-old was admitted with swine flu from Tiljala area. “We have received information that the child is doing well,” he added.
