The mother and wife of Bapi Chowdhuri, the Congress worker allegedly killed by Trinamool activists ten days ago, today met Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee who assured them of their protection and action against the accused.

In her complaint,Bapi’s mother Reba Choudhury had accused one Raju Dam,a Trinamool activist and close aide of Union Minister Mukul Roy,of plotting his son’s murder. Dam has been absconding since the incident took place in Habra,North 24-Parganas.

Though Bapi’s family refused to disclose their deliberations with the chief minister, sources in the CM’s secretariat said the mother requested for their security fearing more attacks.

Later, state DGP Bhupinder Singh a police camp has been set up near their Habra residence and additional SP visited the place in the afternoon,a while after the family met the CM.

On December 20,a group of miscreants attacked a blood donation camp organised by local Congress activists, firing indiscriminately causing the death of Bapi Chowdhuri.

CPM sources said Satyasebi Kar,the party MLA from Ashoknagar near Habra, facilitated the Bapi family’s meeting with the CM.
