Skeleton found in Narayangarh village

A skeleton allegedly of a missing Trinamool Congress supporter was recovered from a village in Narayangarh,West Midnapore on Friday.

A skeleton allegedly of a missing Trinamool Congress supporter was recovered from a village in Narayangarh,West Midnapore on Friday. Narayangarh is the assembly constituency of Suryakanta Mishra,the leader of the Opposition in the state.

The ruling Trinamool Congress claimed the skeleton was that of a party supporter allegedly abducted and killed by the CPM men during the Left Front regime.

“After interrogation,a local CPM worker Swapan Das told us that some people were buried in the area and he took us to the spot. We sent our men to the spot,and exhumed the skeleton. We have started an inquiry,” said a senior police official.

“The wife of Prabodh Das,a TMC worker of Keshpur,has claimed that the skeleton belongs to her husband. But so far we have not received any complaint from anyone about the identity of the skeleton,” he added.

According to sources,Prabodh was abducted from Keshpur area in 2001 and had gone missing since then.

The skeleton will be sent for a DNA test,said a senior police official.

Significantly,since Mamata Banerjee took over in the state,12 skeletons have been found from West Midnapore and east Midnapore.

In last three months,the recovery of seven skeletons near the house of CPM leader and former minister Sushanta Ghosh in the same district has led to landing of Ghosh and his aides in jail.

Following tips,police have reportedly started digging several places at Andharia village in Binpur area. “We have come to know that some people were buried in the village. Accordingly,we have started digging up operation in the area,” said an official.
