What has also piqued interest is the revelation about data inconsistencies that were uncovered during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. While a mismatch with the father’s name was observed for 85 lakh people, several others had age inconsistencies regarding the age of the parents vis-a-vis the children.
The draft electoral roll for West Bengal will be published on Tuesday (December 16). When the EC first announced a nationwide SIR on the heels of the Bihar SIR, the draft rolls were to be published by December 9. After a nudge from the Supreme Court, the poll body gave a one-week extension.

Earlier this month, the EC extended the SIR timeline in five states and one Union Territory. But West Bengal is not one of them.
There are a few ways of checking your name in the draft electoral roll.

Online: If you want to check the data from the comfort of your phone, you can visit a few online sites..
The draft rolls will show tabulated entries, including those submitted through enumeration forms. It will also showcase the names of deceased persons, missing voters and duplicate entries.
The Election Commission is also going to hold hearings if any discrepancies are found, as part of the verification process.
